Importantly, PDF files don't encode information that is specific to the application software , hardware , or operating system used to create or view the document.
In short, Adobe PDF documents are used to allow end users to easily download, view and print all manner of documents (such as coupons, application forms, information sheets, catalogues, brochures, flyers, articles, etc) without needing to have the original program that the document was created in!
